RSPCA Superheroes
Peter Alexander & Penny
His name has become synonymous with the quality fashions and sleepwear he creates, but Peter Alexander himself has said, he created a huge business out of a 'stupid idea'!

The 'pyjama king' is a title he likes and although he has poured his passion into his business (which he started in 1983), his heart has always been in the welfare of animals.

Peter’s cherished dachshund Penny, who was his constant companion and a regular star of his catalogues, continues to be the mascot for his brand following her death in November 2004.

Peter was thrilled to be asked to be a RSPCA superhero - as long as he does not have to wear red tights! – and says he looks forward to celebrating Penny’s life through his contribution to the charity.
Craig Lowndes & Oscar
The youngest of two boys, Craig Lowndes was born in Melbourne and grew up in the semi-rural Diamond Creek area. His childhood was strongly influenced by animals with numerous horses agisted on the family property and a wide array of pets which included dogs, birds and even goats.

After competing in his first Go—Karting event at just nine years of age, Lowndes quickly showed his potential and moved up to Formula Ford, where he took out the national title in 1993. His clean, quick driving style gained the attention of prominent V8 Supercar team, Holden Racing Team (HRT) and at 22 years of age in 1996, he became Australia’s youngest ever touring car champion.

After switching marques from Holden to Ford in 2001, Lowndes has since competed with the Gibson Motorsport operation (00 Motorsport) and the factory supported Ford Performance Racing outfit. Thanks to his continually impressive race results, Lowndes finished 2003 with a top five position in the V8 Supercar Championship Series.

Supported by his wife Natalie and baby son Levi, the popular V8 star is actively involved in animal welfare, including a drought-relief program in which several horses affected by severe water shortages in New South Wales have been relocated to his south-east Queensland property.

Craig Lowndes is excited to be an RSPCA Superhero and hopes to make a difference by educating people about the importance of animal welfare.

Simmone Mackinnon with Maha Kala & Vajra Keila
A classically trained dancer, Simmone toured with the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats before an injury forced her to consider acting. Her first major acting role came in 1998 in the Baywatch Down Under special, which led to an invitation to join the core cast on Baywatch.

The Mt Isa born actor has since swapped the distinctive red swimsuit for an akubra and boots, currently starring as the rebellious Stevie on McLeod’s Daughters, which is consistently one of Australia’s highest rating television dramas. As a dedicated horse lover, one of the greatest attractions of this role was the opportunity to work with these animals on the set every day of filming.

Now based in South Australia, Simmone shares her home with three dogs and says she is delighted to have an opportunity to work with the RSPCA and to share her love and respect for animals with Australians right across the country.
