Have a cuppa for all creatures great and small
Australia's Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has pipped Sydney radio breakfast presenter Alan Jones at the post to win the Twinings Tea Challenge.
Kevin Rudd’s personally perfected blend of tea has been voted by Australians as Australia’s first official Afternoon Tea blend.
Australia’s animals will be the beneficiaries of Kevin’s blend with the RSPCA being nominated as his chosen charity.
RSPCA Australia’s Partnerships Manager Kellie Rutherford said the RSPCA was delighted that Mr Rudd has won the challenge.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Mr Rudd’s blend of tea has won. It’s great that people will be able to enjoy an afternoon cuppa knowing that they are helping all creatures great and small.
“We’d like to thank Mr Rudd, Twinings and also all of our supporters that voted for this blend of tea.
“97% of the RSPCA’s national funding comes from the community so we rely on the generosity of Australian’s to keep our doors open.
“Last year RSPCA shelters cared for over 160,000 animals and our Inspectors were on the road investigating 50,000 complaints of animal cruelty and neglect.”
Kevin Rudd’s Afternoon Tea blend will go on sale on Australia Day and 10 cents from every pack sold will go to the RSPCA.
