Bills submitted to parliament to end the live export trade
Independents Andrew Wilkie and Nick Xenophon have presented bills to phase out the live export trade over the next three years.
Both are urging Australia turn to the boxed meat trade instead of trying to improve conditions overseas.
RSPCA Australia and Animals Australia today welcomed proposed legislation.
“This is a momentous day - our political representatives now have the opportunity to end the cruellest trade in Australia’s history,” said RSPCA Australia CEO Heather Neil.
