Pet Food Standards

A number of recent pet food safety issues raised concerns and highlighted the need for improvements in pet food safety and quality. The Australian Standard – Manufacturing and marketing of pet food has been developed in response to these concerns.

RSPCA Australia generally supports the contents of the Draft Australian Standard - Manufacturing and marketing of pet food. However, there are some specific sections within the draft which are particularly important as they specifically address some of the recent pet safety issues.

RSPCA Australia is now calling for members of the public to support these specific sections. Public support for these sections will help to ensure that they are maintained in the final Australian Standard - Manufacturing and marketing of pet food.
