Good Egg Award
The RSPCA Good Egg Awards celebrate companies that are showing leadership by sourcing or switching to cage-free eggs (barn or free-range eggs).
International winners, including (McDonalds UK, Google and Sainsbury's), tell us that receiving a Good Egg Award and letting hens out of cages has made good business sense, boosted staff morale, improved brand image and reputation, and benefited their bottom line.
The RSPCA Good Egg Awards are an opportunity for your organisation to make a positive impact on animal welfare and help set the standard for others.
Your eligibility
- You will need to be a medium to large scale organisation operating in Australia.
- Your organisation is in the food service, hospitality, manufacturing or supermarket sector.
- You'll be sourcing cage-free whole eggs or egg product already OR you are committing to move in this direction by 2012. If you are a retailer, you may receive a commendation if your own housebrands make the move to cage-free by 2012.
How to enter
It's simple.
To register your interest in an Award we'll need a letter from your Board or CEO stating your egg-sourcing policy or commitment, how you audit your egg supply and how many eggs you use per year. How the Good Egg Award started
The Good Egg Awards were developed by Compassion in World Farming to recognise the commitment of European companies that are setting free millions of hens.
To date, Good Egg Award winners have released over 20 million hens from cages every year due to their cage-free egg policies or commitments to stop sourcing their eggs from cage systems. In Europe and the UK, some of the winners include: McDonald's, Google, Hellmann's, Starbucks Coffee, Subway and Sainsbury's.
The RSPCA encourages businesses in Australia to make this same switch.
