The Role

The RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme is Australia’s leading farm animal welfare certification program, making impact for farm animals for over 26 years the Scheme has undergone a recent strategic review and priority is being placed on enhancement of the program’s marketing activities.

This new Marketing Manager role reports to the Manager – RSPCA Approved and is integral to the ongoing promotion of the Scheme and general community awareness of higher welfare farming practices. As part of the Marketing team, the role will have the direct support of a full-time Marketing Coordinator, supporting the Manager in the coordination and development of marketing activity.

The role will be responsible for developing and delivering marketing activities and campaigns across a range of platforms and channels, as well as working collaboratively with Licensees, Producers and partners on co-branded activities. 

The Marketing Manager will need to work closely with RSPCA Australia Communications and Science team in the delivery of accurate and timely marketing campaigns. A key part of the role is maintaining the integrity of the RSPCA Approved brand across RSPCA channels and Scheme participant marketing materials.

The RSPCA Approved marketing team is based in Canberra in the RSPCA Australia office in Deakin, however, it is possible that a range of different working from home or remote locations can be considered for very experienced applicants.


The Person

To be successful in this role you should have agriculture FMCG or food marketing experience at a management or senior level. You will have developed and delivered successful marketing campaigns and be able to identify innovative ways to reach our target audience. Your work will have a high level of attention to detail and be of a quality that matches and exceeds all RSPCA Australia public facing communications.

You will have an interest in farm animal welfare and personally feel aligned with the RSPCA’s purpose to make animals lives better. The RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme team are a passionate bunch, who are proud of our reputation in industry of being a cooperative and collaborative team that has a high standard of integrity. Importantly we’re all driven to see higher welfare farming practices embedded in Australian Agriculture and you’ll need to feel part of this mission.

You should have excellent relationship and rapport building skills. The successful applicant will need to proactively engage with RSPCA Approved Licensees and Producers in the development and approval of content to promote the Scheme, as well as internal liaison.

The Marketing Manager will need to be able to step into a relatively new role for the Scheme. The successful candidate should be open to finding innovative ways to do things better and challenge us internally on effective marketing strategies.

You should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, in particular Outlook, Teams and SharePoint. You will have experience in ensuring records are properly maintained in a CRM and keeping senior management informed of various projects and opportunities.
