How we govern ourselves

National Board
RSPCA Australia is the federal body of the eight autonomous state and territory RSPCAs in Australia. RSPCA Australia establishes national policies and positions on animal welfare and liaises with government and industry on national animal welfare issues.
There are eight state and territory Societies which are members of RSPCA Australia. They are:
- RSPCA ACT
- RSPCA Darwin Regional Branch
- RSPCA New South Wales
- RSPCA Queensland
- RSPCA South Australia
- RSPCA Tasmania
- RSPCA Victoria
- RSPCA Western Australia
RSPCA Member Societies are governed by a Board of volunteers who are drawn from the community. Each Board has an elected President. The core of administration, 'hands-on' and inspectorial work of the RSPCA Societies is carried out by paid staff, usually under the management of a Chief Executive Officer.
All new policies require the unanimous vote of the National Board before it is accepted as Policy. The National Board is made up from one representative from each state and territory RSPCA. The current representatives on the Board are:
- Mrs Lynne Bradshaw (President, RSPCA Australia and President, RSPCA WA)
- Mrs Sue Gage (Vice-President, RSPCA Australia and President, RSPCA ACT)
- Ms Amanda Stoker (President, RSPCA Darwin)
- Mr Graham Hall (Vice-President, RSPCA NSW)
- Ms Eileen Thumpkin (President, RSPCA QLD)
- Ms Sheree Sellick (President, RSPCA SA)
- Dr Paul Swiatkowski (President, RSPCA TAS)
- Dr Hugh Wirth (President, RSPCA VIC)
Member Societies operate independently, however, the National Board of the RSPCA meets three times a year to formulate new national policy and plan future directions of the RSPCA.
