5 reasons to get your bake on for RSPCA Cupcake Day

RSPCA Cupcake Day gathers bakers from across the nation to make a stand for animal welfare. Cupcake Day is Monday 20 August, so it’s (almost) time to get your cake on.

Here are some reasons to get involved:

1.To eat copious amounts of baked treats (obviously!)

What more could you want? Cupcake Day is the sweetest way to raise change and despite its name, you can choose to bake brownies, slices and other goodies too. It’s completely up to you!

2.Your chance to become the host with the most

When you decide to be a Cupcake Day host, you can organise your own Cupcake Day - however you like and wherever you like!

To help you run the best Cupcake Day ever, we’ll send you an exclusive host kit when you register! It has all the essentials, including a host guide, pop-up donation box, decorative bunting and promotional posters!

3.Bring your workplace, friends, and family together

You might like to host a cupcake party at home, a bake sale at school, or you could bring cupcakes to work and ask for donations! It’s a great excuse to bring the animal lovers in your life together for a good cause.

4.Loose change is all you need

If you sell each cupcake for a humble $2:

o   12 cupcakes can provide an orphaned kitten with a bed, litter tray, meals and a toy.

o   25 cupcakes can cover one week of antibiotics for an animal recovering from surgery.

o   50 cupcakes can desex a cat or dog so they can be adopted.

o   120 cupcakes can subsidise emergency surgery for an animal.

o   175 cupcakes can subsidise the cost of prosecuting a cruelty offender in court.

5.You’re helping care for animals in need

All proceeds from Cupcake Day go towards supporting the ongoing work of the RSPCA in caring for animals in need. It means we can keep the doors of our animal shelters open and our inspectors on the road. Our education programs can continue, teaching our community about crucial topics, such as animal care and welfare issues.
