With only a few weeks left before the biggest pet event in Canberra each year, RSPCA ACT is in training mode in preparation for the Million Paws Walk.  Sunday 18 May at Commonwealth Park, RSPCA ACT will attempt to break all previous attendance records with both registered participants, as well as, fundraising.

In 2013, the organisation raised over $143,000 with approximately 10,000 people attending.  Team Jim Jam from the ACT was also the single highest fund raising team across Australia for that year, and so far it looks like they just might do it again.

CEO Tammy Ven Dange said, “The best thing about this event is that you don’t need to own a dog to enjoy it.  We have bands, plenty of stalls, presentations from our knowledgeable staff, as well as, the popular ‘Fashion Parade’ where canines in costumes will strut their stuff across the dogwalk!”

Early bird registrations are still open until 8 May at www.millionpawswalk.com.au/ACT.  Teams that also fundraise will be eligible for a draw to win $1000 worth of Qantas air travel.  Procrastinators can also register at Stage 88 on the day of the event too.

For more information, visit their website at www.rspca-act.org.au  or email [email protected].

About RSPCA ACT

RSPCA ACT is the only animal shelter in the Canberra community.  Each year, the charity cares for approximately 9000 local animals (both wild and domestic) – most who are unwanted, injured or sick.  The organisation receives only 15% of its funding from ACT Government and therefore depends on the generosity of Canberrans and sponsors to take care of the animals.
