About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Specialist to join our dedicated team, to lead our work promoting our mission and engaging our community through various digital platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic social media campaigns (organic and paid), creating compelling content (including video), and fostering meaningful interactions with our audience to drive awareness, engagement, and support for our cause.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies to amplify RSPCA Australia's mission and initiatives.
  • Create engaging and shareable content (including video) across social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Monitor social media trends, insights, and analytics to provide recommendations, optimise content performance and inform future strategies.
  • Cultivate and nurture online communities by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Contribute to producing up-to-date and engaging content for digital platforms including intranet sites and e-communications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align social media efforts with organisational goals, campaigns and priorities.
  • Stay updated on emerging social media platforms, trends, tools and best practices to continuously enhance our online presence.

As a member of a small team, other duties and activities that contribute to the work of RSPCA Australia will be required from time to time or as directed.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant demonstrated experience in communication, digital marketing or a related field.
  • Strong demonstrated skills in social media management for growth, and video content production using the Adobe suite.
  • Experience in campaigning, advocacy and/or fundraising with a focus on digital and social media, as part of a team and in an in-house role.
  • Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the mission and values of RSPCA Australia.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills, including organisation and attention to detail.
  • Managing projects and prioritising time in a busy work environment, working closely with team members and subject matter experts.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant demonstrated experience in communication, digital marketing or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing projects and prioritising time in a busy work environment, especially working closely and collaborating effectively with team members, stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Strong demonstrated skills in social media management for growth.
  • Strong demonstrated skills and confidence in producing engaging and effective content (especially video) using the Adobe suite and/or Canva.
  • Experience in campaigning, advocacy and/or fundraising with a focus on digital and social media, as part of a team and in an in-house role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills, including organisation and attention to detail.
  • Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the mission and values of RSPCA Australia.
