This year’s highly-anticipated RSPCA Animal Welfare Seminar is being held online from 18 – 19 February 2026, focussing on the topic of animal welfare in the digital age.

With innovations in digital technology rapidly emerging and expanding across the world, the seminar will offer a range of presentations from, and discussions with, experts from around the world on topics such as the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on animals, digital technology on farms, and animal cruelty content online.

Speakers at the 2026 Animal Welfare Seminar include global experts from a range of academic, commercial and NFP backgrounds, presenting on their areas of expertise across the two days.

With the explosion in use of technologies such as artificial intelligence to address challenges in sectors involving animals, effective and ethical application of novel technology requires challenges and risks to be identified and mitigated, in addition to the opportunities.

“There may be hidden costs to animals where technology is introduced, even when the intention is to improve their welfare,” said RSPCA Australia CEO Richard Mussell.

“The Animal Welfare Seminar is one of the most anticipated events on the animal welfare calendar, offering contemporary, evidence-based research on animal welfare issues. Our annual seminar creates important space for these topics to be discussed and explored by members of various industries.”

The 2026 Animal Welfare Seminar is free and open to everyone to register.
