RSPCA Australia’s science and policy team are purpose-driven and values led, working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Through our advocacy and evidence-building work, our science and policy team helps shape the future of animal welfare in Australia by developing public education materials, preparing briefings and information papers that translate science into practical guidance, and building strong relationships with animal welfare organisations, government and industry.
Specialisation in companion animals is highly desirable, and we may also consider other highly qualified candidates with experience in farm animal welfare (including poultry) or horse welfare.
RSPCA Australia is Australia’s leading animal welfare organisation and one of the nation’s most recognised and trusted organisations. We exist for animals to live better lives. With a rich history spanning over more than 150 years, the RSPCA continues to be at the forefront of animal care and protection, advocacy and education, across the nation. RSPCA Australia, the federation’s national body, is a leading source of animal welfare science, and works with governments and industries to progress animal welfare across a range of issues.
The Senior Scientific Officer has direct responsibility for the provision of high-quality science-based information, advice and comment on animal welfare issues in support of the strategic objectives of RSPCA Australia.
The Senior Scientific Officer implements and applies RSPCA policy/position on animal welfare issues, works independently at times and often collaboratively with the team, initiates or seeks out new areas of work, and seeks opportunities to contribute to existing campaigns/priority areas.
RSPCA Australia is primarily seeking a Senior Scientific Officer to work specifically in the field of companion animal welfare.
